Joel Radio #67: As Seen on CompuServe
Joel and Corey go back-to-back weeks for the first time in quite a while. And for no good reason either, as the guys sample the latest movie reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. While Corey is listed over there, what’s more interesting is the critics that don’t get with the critical mass, and the one guy who publishes his reviews on CompuServe. That’s right, CompuServe. If you can’t remember 1995, then fire up the Compuserve homepage, and take a trip back to the Clinton administration. Also, Joel is up sick and rediscovers the genius of D.C. Cab, and its star Charlie Barnett. That’s another time traveling trip – right back to 1983! Gary Busey! Bill Maher! Mr. T! Paul Rodriguez! Marsha Warfield! Irene Cara! Whitman Mayo! Awesome! Plus, The Change-Up makes a tired premise more tired, Rise of the Planet of the Apes sinks, Cowboys and Aliens coasts, and Joel will take Christina Applegate’s leftovers.

Charlie Barnett does his thing in Washington Square Park. Very funny. Dated, but funny.

Joel Radio #76: The Best and Worst of TV 2011
about 4 months ago - 1 comment
It’s now 2012, but Joel and Corey have no problem living in the past. Hence, a re-cap of the best and worst programming that illuminated the boob tube in 2011. The lists are really dissimilar too, as the guys only agreed that one comedy show was worthy of both of their Top 10s. Joel’s list…
Joel Radio #71: No Kindle for Corey
about 6 months ago - No comments
As technology moves forward, some move with it and some stay behind. On this show we have Joel embracing the convenience and simplicity of the new Kindle e-reader, and Corey Hall bemoaning the loss of the smell of paper and minimum wage bookstore jobs. Joel thinks Corey would want a Kindle if he tried it,…

You think there’s be some cheap joke for show #69, but there isn’t. In fact, there’s some serious business to take care of on this show, namely previewing the new fall TV season. In fact, they’ve created a game out of it, and you can play along. Like comedian, Matt McClowry, who joins the show…
Joel Radio #60: Steampunk Convention

It was recently Record Store Day. No, keep reading, I promise it won’t be THAT boring. Anyway, Corey recently shopped one of the last remaining indie record shops in Detroit and came away both satisfied and sad about that industry’s decline. That leads Joel to ponder the future of technology, get nostalgic about the beginnings…
Joel Radio #51: An Abberation

It finally happened, after years of one scheme after another, show friend John Tenney, finally cracked through to the mainstream on his own TV show. While Joel, and guest host Corey Hall, are happy for John, the actual show – as you’ll hear in clips – leaves something to be desired. Hear clips of “actual”…

Joel is back, as is Conan O’Brien. So is Corey Hall, for that matter, and the guys break down Conan’s TBS debut, discuss the realities of basic cable TV, and why pretty much anybody is better than Jimmy Fallon. Joel gives his theory on the first show’s unusual guest booking, and breaks down the show’s…
Joel Radio #49: The Cider Mill Is Ruined

This week’s show is completely wacky. Guest Harry Artin Berberian returns, and he’s got a brand-new rap/parody single called “Change That’s Loose”. It’s a knock on Obama, which, nowadays, may help him get some play in the Midwest. What’s Joel’s verdict? Listen and find out! Also, Joel’s quick TV debut on Detroit 1-8-7, Jackass 3D…

After last week’s doom and gloom, it’s back to fun time on Joel Radio! What could be more fun than Tiger Woods’ dirty text messages? His porn star ex-lover posted a bunch of them on the web, and Joel has the full list and analysis. Find out how long Tiger’s “sessions” last, and what he…
Joel Radio #30: The Corey and Jay Radio Show

Jay Leno finally decided to do his first “sit down” interview about the late night debacle. And even though Oprah Winfrey was chosen as the host for said interview, Corey Hall found the event worthy enough to sit in on the playback. Listen as Jay weasels his way around various question concerning Conan’s ratings, Jimmy…
Joel Radio #23: No Thanks
about 2 years ago - No comments
This week, Joel gives thanks for the big announcement that Oprah Winfrey is ending her talk show in 2011. While the popular spin is that she’s making the move to cable, Joel believes there’s more to the story than the “Queen of Daytime” is letting on. Go inside the numbers to uncover huge ratings drops,…

Some notes from the show:
- Charlie Barnett actually died of AIDS, not an OD, though dirty needles were blamed for his infection
- I saw similar and very comics in that very fountain in Washington Square Park. It was literally my front yard when I was at NYU.
- The new website’s comment system requires me to approve new comments, unless you’ve had a previously approved comment on the site. Therefore, if you post now, you’ll be able to get future comments approved automatically – like next week when I’m at the Gathering without internet access
- Feel free to also comment on any movie or TV show we reviewed on the show. It’s nice to know the audience likes and dislikes, too. D.C. Cab anyone?

Keep the Jake jokes coming. Hilarious.
It seems like there’s a little bit of Charlie Bennett in Tracy Morgan’s act too….
My personal favorite old comic ads are the ones with hostess pies, in which Captain America stops the Red Skull by giving all his Nazi henchmen twinkies and what not….

I totally agree with Joel that a man’s looks matter less to women looking to get laid in their thirties. I’m surprised this caught Corey so off guard. Isn’t there a joke that goes women are like dog poop because the older they get the easier they are to pick up? How did you guys not know that one!
Hey Joel it gets real old saying you have no listeners. It’s insulting to the listeners you do have but I don’t even care about that. It’s just such an amateur thing to complain about. Every podcaster says it so much that it’s the oldest, lamest, tiredest podcast schtick out there.
One funny part about this show was when you guys were all giggling trying to imagine what it would be like to be in each other’s bodies. It was during the bit about the body switching movies. It was also gay as hell but it was pretty funny.
Your post-gathering shows are the best.
